What if? Should I? Hmm…

Topics: Smart Strategy

Mojo is bubbling… a couple of days away from the computer has definitely done some good.  I just sat down to catch up on email and looked around my desk – trying to see it all with fresh eyes.

I have some questions for myself:

What if I stopped monitoring Twitter the same old way?

For just a few minutes here I’ve been wondering – should I stop monitoring Twitter at all?  Should I just let replies and DMs alert me by email and leave the live stream unattended?

Radical thinking for me… I’ve been monitoring Twitter pretty much non stop for a couple of years now.

What do you think?

Should I create a more structured Coaching Program?

My one on one coaching is all very client led (they bring questions and projects, I give answers and feedback and we brainstorm) and other than my 42 Day Launch Incubator which guides them through creating a low cost information product by hosting an inexpensive teleseminar – I don’t have a ‘program’ for clients to go through.

What do you think?  What sort of structured coaching program would appeal to you?

What if I mix things up with my Podcast?

I’ve got plans to change up my format at Work at Home Moms Talk Radio and am so excited about it.  It will be more time intensive but the results should be amazing!  The extra time needed to record and edit concerns me a bit… I’m not sure I can keep up a weekly schedule for that.  So what if I changed things up and published shows in a different format now and then?

What do you think?  Would that confuse or annoy listeners?  Or do you think they’ll like some variety?

Would love your feedback and look forward to reading the comments!

Kelly, like I said on Twitter you help so many of us! It’s about time we can help you out!
I don’t know what to say about Twitter, but I do about your coaching!
Your personal coaching sessions are extremely helpful! The answers and feedback are invaluable. And the brainstorming is an experience that I loved!
But a structured program might be a good addition to what you have to offer. Something with a forum and weekly meetings with a group would keep people accountable (I know it would work for me!)
Thanks for all you do. I’m looking forward to the changes you have planned on WAHM Talk Radio!

I think a more structured coaching program is a great idea, because often newer marketers actually don’t know what to ask or where to focus – plus it would help prequalify people quickly, which is good for them as potential clients. Structure makes it easier for people to budget the time and focus their efforts.

    Hi Kelly,
the trend I’m noticing with all three requests is “I need more time”.

Twitter – how much of a return are you getting from your constant twitter attention? I think it’s perfectly fine to check in just once or twice a day to “chat” and rely on email notifications the rest of the time. If I did anything else, I wouldn’t have time to get any other work done.

Coaching Program – I like the idea of a more structured approach. It will make it easier on you and allow you to leverage your expertise to some extend. You’ll get all the basics covered with the structured program and then have more time to address individual needs of clients that are truly individual needs. I also really like Cara’s idea of a group type thing. Mastermind groups work wonders for me and in addition to Kelly, they would get a few other brilliant minds to pick.

Your podcast – I love wahmtalkradio and have for years. Anything you can come out with in whatever format would work fine for me, but I’m a little unclear about what you mean by format. Would they still be audio, or might you just write a blog post or send out a pdf instead of a show? Definitely excited to see what you have in store over the coming months though.

    Kelly,

As far as coaching goes, I like both approaches. Often times, people have a specific agenda, so I would keep the client-led coaching option. Having a structured coaching program is a great idea to develop for certain topics that keep coming up over and over again–like blogging, podcasting, etc. What about one on writing e-books? A crash course on using social media to promote your online business? The differences on writing for the Web versus the print media–big differences there!

As far as your podcast goes, some people will always dislike change because that is in their nature, but as long as you regularly deliver your good content, people will still tune in even if the shows are less frequent. I would just let them know what to expect. For example, “My next show will be two weeks from today. In the meantime, here’s a list of my favorite shows for you to revisit or catch up on while you’re waiting.” Or, give them some “homework” or an assignment from something learned on this show to practice while waiting.

Thanks Cara :) I had a great time recording segments for the new format today!

I think that would great to have variety because all of us like different things and what issues are going on when you are trying to work from home. You can talk about recipes and how to be frugal while working from home. So I would still listen no matter what because I love your podcast.

Like Jane mentioned I think it would be a good idea to have both a client led program and a more structured program. As Marya said newbies may need a bit more structure (that’s what I’m finding) until they know what to ask for. I recommended the 42-day launch to a client of mine and she loved it (I love it too). She loved knowing what needs to be done and when and basically have a checklist so she can get things done in a timely manner (she’s not good and making to do lists so this was extremely helpful). But more advance marketers may have a specific problem they need help with. Also have you thought about combining the two. Some people may want a structured program with the ability to still talk with someone.

Well, I’ve turned Twitter off quite a bit over the last two days and I’m not twitching too bad from the lack of input ;)

Late on this :) as for Twitter, you know I quit monitoring it a long time ago. These days, I treat all social networking time as down time. During lunch of sometimes after dinner. These are like having lunch or dinner with friends.
