I Started With Nothing

Back in 2002 it was a big deal for me to scrape together a few bucks for my first domain name and a scary commitment to start up a monthly hosting account.

My first sale online was for $5 (a 125×125  button graphic) and I worked two hours for it.

Just sayin’.

Oh man, I just bought my first domain yesterday and hosting package and blog installation. Now I think my next step is going to be getting a good designer of blogs as I know nothing about the technical way of making them look good! It's so nice to hear that other people started with nothing in their pockets and a little bit of intimidation of the commitment! Thank you for this.

It is encouraging to hear that you had to jump in and just do it, and then keep doing it. Thanks for sharing that info, because it lends hope to so many others who are afraid to give it a go.

Hi Lynda :) I have to recommend my people at Freshnets.com of course :) If you're looking for someone with a difference style, I love what Lara does at DesignedbyLara.com too. I wish you the best!

Yes, and keep doing it and keep doing it and keep doing it! I still have to do that today.

Now I don’t feel so bad about those $2.00 payouts for my first articles at Associated Content. :-)
At first I was discouraged when I sat back and thought about all the time I wasted for a measly $2.00.
Then I realized no matter how small the amount, I had provided value that someone was willing to pay for and it all happened online.
So actually I did accomplish my goal-to make money online. Now it’s just a matter of finding ways to scale my efforts.

Thanks for sharing. I needed that!
