RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and it is just a cool way to subscribe to be notified about new website content.
You may be old school in your approach to keeping in touch with a favorite website and just add the site to your ‘favorite bookmarks’ list on your web browser – and sure, that works – but what if you forget to check in? One day turns into a week and before you know it it’s been a month or two since you visited and have completely lost touch. Happens all the time.
Not with RSS – if you really want to stay in touch you can and you don’t even have to give up any of your privacy to do so.
See the RSS box at the top of my sidebar to your right? You have two options for making use of my RSS feed.
Option A: RSS Reader
You can click on the RSS feed link and follow the instructions to subscribe with your favorite RSS reader. (My personal favorite is Google Reader.)
If you choose this option, all of my new posts will be queued up in your Google Reader and ready for you whenever you want to catch up.
Option B: Email Subscription
If you aren’t comfortable with using an RSS reader – or just prefer email communication in general, you can drop your primary email address into the box and subscribe that way. (Be sure to confirm your subscription!) With this option you’ll receive a recap email every day that I post to the blog with all of the content right there in your mail box for you to read.
Whichever option you choose, you can always click on the post titles and be brought right here to the blog to view the post on site and leave a comment or share via your social networks.
My RSS Subscribers Have Privileges
I am using a special tool that provides extra links, contests and freebies for my RSS subscribers only – so if you haven’t subscribed yet, I invite you to do so now
